Our
Efforts

Bold North Recovery spearheads Minnesota's advocacy efforts to educate and provide information about substance use disorders and recovery for policy makers and our community. We want our legislatures to make informed decisions about Utahns who need access to health care and funding for prevention, treatment and recovery support services.

Bold North Recovery's Top Advocacy Priorities:

  • Criminal Justice Reform

  • Reduction of Opioid Overdose Deaths in Minnesota

  • Minnesota Applications for Expungement and Pardons for Drug Related Convictions

  • Minnesota's Health Care Coverage for Adults without Insurance

  • Comprehensive Addiction Recovery Act (CARA)

  • Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA)

BNR's goal is to impact the decisions about proposed Bills and funding cuts, and to raise awareness that every dollar spent on Substance Abuse Services has personal benefit to citizens of Utah in need of help. As we increase our advocacy efforts and this level of support, we will continue to reduce the barriers that many people seeking help often face.

According to William L. White, "The New Recovery Advocacy Movement (NRAM) is a social movement led by people in addiction recovery and their allies aimed at altering public and professional attitudes toward addiction recovery, promulgating recovery-focused policies and programs, and supporting efforts to break intergenerational cycles of addiction and related problems."
